Welcome to Year 3

The adults in Year 3 are Mrs Monk (Class Teacher), Mrs Colman (Teaching Assistant) and Miss Sullivan (Learning Support Assistant). We are all here to help and support both your children and you as much as we can so please come and speak to us if there is anything you wish to discuss.

The school day starts at 8:40 and finishes at 14:45. Please be on time arriving and collecting your child from school. If your child is unwell and unable to attend school, please make sure you inform the school office promptly.

We now have our lovely, smart new uniform. Please make sure your child’s name is on all pieces of clothing, especially ties as these can get easily lost.

Unfortunately, children in Year 3 no longer receive snacks from the school. If you wish for them to have a snack at playtime, then please send them in with a piece of fruit. It is also important for the children to stay hydrated, as our classroom can get very hot. Please make sure they have a named water bottle that is cleaned daily.

Year 3 have P.E on Tuesday and Thursday. Your child should come to school in their normal school uniform and bring their P.E kit with them. We will encourage the children to leave their kit at school on Tuesday ready for P.E again on Thursday. All clothes should be named to prevent anything being lost. A reminder that if your child has their ears pierced, then earrings should be removed for P.E days.

Our class concept is Society. We will be answering our enquiry question of “What makes society successful?” We will be learning about different aspects of society both present day and from the past.

Please read with your child as much as possible at home but at least 3 times per week. I love reading and hope that all of Year 3 will love reading too!

Parent Afternoon

March 2023

We were delighted to have so many parents come into the classroom to look at our work. We really enjoyed showing you all the work we have been doing throughout the year and reading with you too.

3D Art Event

On 2nd February, we were very lucky to visit PRIMEYARC Art gallery in the town centre. We created our own pieces of artwork using recyclable materials. We made our own town and used different materials to make different heights of buildings. We used our teamwork skills to work together and our analyse skills to assess how effective our buildings were.

Music Performance

March 2023

We had our end of term music performance. We were very nervous but performed brilliantly. We hope you enjoyed our two recorder songs: Hot Cross Buns and Mary Had a Little Lamb.
